Is Your GRA Certificate Real? How to Verify Moissanite Correctly?

GRA Certificate Check Online: The Complete Moissanite Verification Guide

What is a GRA certificate, and how can you tell if it’s real? Whether you are looking for a stunning engagement ring or a timeless gift, ensuring your gemstone is authentic is the first step toward a lifetime of confidence. This guide explains exactly what a GRA (Gemological Research Association) report is and how to verify GRA moissanite certificate details using laser inscriptions and digital records to spot the difference between real and misleading information.

In today’s market, knowing is GRA moissanite real depends on two layers of security. At Moisza, we believe your love deserves total transparency, which is why we’ve moved beyond standard paperwork to provide a premium Moisza ID experience. For stones 0.5 carats and larger, our unique Moisza IDs work alongside official GRA data to offer a "Verified" status and a Lifetime Brilliance Warranty that standard certificates alone cannot match.

Before you finalize your purchase, use this real vs. fake guide to perform an online check and gain the peace of mind that comes with owning a truly verified gemstone.

What is a GRA Certificate?

GRA certificate

A GRA certificate is a grading report issued under the GRA (Gemological Research Association) name. It records your Moissanite stone’s key details, such as its shape, measurements, carat weight, colour and clarity grade, and links the stone to a unique report number. GRA reports are the most widely used certificates in the moissanite industry. Unlike the major diamond laboratories, however, GRA is not a single central lab: several GRA-branded centres issue reports, each with its own database. That is why checking the number through the website or QR code printed on your certificate matters.

The GRA certificate serves as a unique identifier for your Moissanite stone, with a distinct inscription and number engraved directly on the girdle of the gem. This inscription lets you match the stone in your hands to its certificate and online record.

The Importance of a GRA Certificate

In a world where imitations and counterfeit goods can be difficult to detect, a GRA certificate adds a valuable layer of peace of mind. By documenting the Moissanite's characteristics, including its cut, color, clarity, and carat weight, the certificate helps you make informed purchasing decisions and confirm you receive what you paid for.

Authenticity Verification

A GRA certificate confirms that the stone in your jewelry is genuine moissanite, not a cheaper simulant such as cubic zirconia or glass, and records its grading details. All gem-quality moissanite is lab-created, so the certificate does not indicate natural origin. What it gives you is a verifiable link between your stone and its recorded specifications.

Resale Value

Like most lab-created gemstones, moissanite is chosen for its beauty and everyday wearability rather than as a financial investment, and resale prices are generally modest. Where a GRA certificate does help is trust: if you ever sell, gift or pass on the piece, the certificate and girdle inscription let the next owner confirm exactly what it is.

What microscopic inscription verification looks like

At Moisza, we verify moissanite inscriptions at a microscopic level and pair each piece with proper documentation, so customers can purchase with confidence—not assumptions.

Confidence in Your Purchase

Ultimately, the GRA certificate gives you the confidence to wear your Moissanite jewelry with pride, knowing that you have chosen a genuine, well-documented gem. This assurance lets you fully enjoy the beauty and brilliance of your Moissanite without doubts or concerns.

Choosing Moissanite with a GRA Certificate

When selecting Moissanite jewelry, look for pieces that come with a GRA certificate, and check that the report number on the certificate matches the inscription on the stone and the online record. Together, these give you a wealth of information to make an informed purchasing decision.

At Moisza, every Moissanite gemstone of 0.5 carat or more comes with a GRA certificate and its own Moisza ID. We carefully curate our collection so that every Moissanite stone meets our standards of quality and authenticity.

Clarification on GRA Number Registration

GRA numbers are assigned and registered at the time the gemstone is created and do not require buyer registration.

The GRA number allows buyers to verify the gemstone’s details online (digital record). These details correspond to the physical certificate and card (hard copy) provided with the jewelry item. The unique GRA number is printed on the girdle of the gemstone and can be viewed using a 30× microscope.

Please note that different GRA centres maintain their own databases; therefore, not all GRA numbers can be verified through a single public website. Buyers should use the official verification website printed on the certificate or scan the QR code provided to verify the gemstone’s details.

If you have any questions regarding your certificate or gemstone details, we encourage you to contact the seller directly for assistance.

@ Ehsan,
Thanks for your message!
If you have the corresponding GRA certificate, you can easily check the carat weight by entering the unique GRA number on the website listed on the certificate.

If the certificate is not available, the gemstone does still have a laser-inscribed number, but it can only be seen under a 30× microscope. Even then, without the certificate, the number may not always link you to the correct online website with full product details.

Another option is to have the gemstone measured manually using a professional jewelry scale and ruler, which a local jeweller can usually help with. Let us know if you’d like any assistance—we’re happy to help 😊

@Meta L Walker
Thank you for your message. With the unique numbers on your GRA certificates, there’s no need to register them separately. These numbers are laser-inscribed on the gemstones and are used to verify the gemstone details through the official GRA online database.

Simply visit the website listed on your certificate and enter the GRA number to view the report details. Let us know if you need any help! 😊
